Yacy on Raspberry Pi starts Java for 20 seconds, then ends

Beitragvon kurzehilfe » Di Feb 09, 2016 9:30 pm

Hello, I followed some instruction to install Yacy, which went roughly like this (not the exact code obviously, but you'll understand. These are all the lines I used):
Code: Alles auswählen
sudo apt-get install jre7-headless
wget linux-image-der-website
tar xzf image
./updateYACY.sh
./startYACY.sh

If I look at top, java starts and is running at 99% for 2 minutes, then it stops. I can't open Yacy via :8090 at this time, even if I don't try to open :8090 it stops after two minutes.
My raspberry pi is not running anything else. I have installed i2p but its not running, maybe I installed a different java version.

Yacy on Raspberry Pi starts Java for 20 seconds, then ends

Beitragvon kurzehilfe » Di Feb 09, 2016 9:50 pm

Okay so starting with the 8090 port forwarded with tcp and udp doesn't help, sill the same yacy00.log.
Java still stops after 20 seconds.

my
java -version

says
java version "1.7.0_95"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.4) (7u95-2.6.4-1~deb7u1+rpi1)
OpenJDK Zero VM (build 24.95-b01, mixed mode)

I have only 500mb free space on the raspi, might that be a problem?

Hello kurzhilfe

Running YaCy on a RaspberryPi is possible, but a bit tricky.
Whenever you extract a new tarball you have to remove -server from the JAVA_ARGS in startYACY.sh
Please check if the port is already bound to some prozess, whichmay cause your error message, by

netstat -antp | grep 8090

Hey, so I did:
netstat -antp | grep 8090
and it doesn't show any results, just waits for next command.

I deleted the -server from startYACY.sh and tried startYACY.sh again twice, still the same issue.

This does not look like the Peer has any problem at all.
The Java Process is really gone?

I'm sorry - I don't have an answer for that.
I just can tell you that it is possible to run YaCy on Raspberry - I've 7 of them.

I want to reflash raspbian but I want to keep my i2p installation, so maybe in a few weeks I will try it.
I have used yacy on windows before and I am going to install it on my ubuntu desktop now just to fool around :)

I got it working! I did
sudo update-alternatives --config java
and set it to use jdk-8-oracle-arm-vfp-hflt/jre/bin/java.
Now it works. I changed it, because after all the tinkering with yacy my i2p was going veery slow and using the processor at 99% so I thought I changed something with the java settings. Now i2p and yacy both work fine, I could run them at the same tim I guess.
